Patens

Diskos (Greek for "round dish") is used in the Orthodox Church as a liturgical dish.

Дискос је посебна посуда на прелепом постољу које приказује библијске сцене. На пример, у латинском обреду се користи слична посуда, која има другачији назив – патена. Имају разлике: дискос карактерише масивна база.

The discos is used during the Liturgy, it is an important symbol. According to church teaching, the discus represents the Manger of Christ, in which, according to the biblical story, the Mother of God placed the newborn Jesus, as well as the Ark of the Lord, in which the body of Jesus Christ was buried. Christ's body was placed in the cave coffin after it was taken down from the cross, and the food symbolizes it in a spiritual sense.

The discos is necessary for placing in it a special prosphora, taken out on Proscomidia in a special way: the middle part with a seal on the top is used. Agnec is also placed on a small dish.

When the discus moves, it clings to the bottom, like a chalice, and also to the edges.
